A couple months ago I moved my studio over to You’re Welcome Studios at Canopy. After a period of working out of my home, the isolation during the day had made me feel like I was on too much of an island…I had too many distractions, and wasn’t visible enough to bring in more work. A couple of networking events and lunches later with the members of YWS, I decided to take the plunge and set up shop there. Not only is it really nice to have a proper office setup, but just being based here is opening new doors everyday.
Last Thursday, my studio mate Daniel Brock, had clued me in to a fellow Canopy-ite who needed some new headshots taken. It turns out Chris Ohlson, from Revelator (also in the building), was nominated for the prestigious 18th Annual Piaget Producers Award, at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, for his work on Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter…more information on this over on the Revelator website. He needed headshots done the very next morning before he flew off to New York, and before the Spirit Awards needed them on Monday. So, on Friday morning, pre-flight, we made these shots, and he was off!
It’s really nice to be working in a place where your services can always come in handy for people who are doing amazing things.
